=Splicing (mRNA Processing)= [image:http://i.imgur.com/C9i3kBj.png] In Eukaryotes (such as animals and plants) the mRNA produced as a result of transcription still contains non-coding regions known as introns. These Introns must be cut out before the coding regions, known as exons, can be expressed. A group of specialised proteins known as a spliceosome is responsible for removing the Introns, in a process known as splicing.
